The Coach customization program sits at the intersection of self-expression and tactility, aimed at building brand loyalty.
Outdated technology severely constrained the program. A rebuild was required to scale the program across all product categories, offering an opportunity to reimagine an engaging, product-led experience.
My role
Led the product and interaction design for the new customization platform.
Partnered with cross-functional teams in CX, Technology, and 3D to redefine and execute the program across all channels.

Building a tactile digital experience that mirrors physical experimentation and the selling ceremony is crucial. It requires us to express a type of user-led freedom through the platform not typically supported in browsers.
Freedom, to us, means breaking away from linear user flows and constrained interactions. Instead, we embrace expressive gestures, movements, 3D visuals, and asynchronous exploration. This shift promotes play and expressive experiences.

As customizations become more complex, imagery becomes essential to allow entire products to be designed (Made-to-order) by the consumer.
Leveraging interactive 3D assets far surpasses the capabilities of 2D renderings. This approach fosters a more flexible and design-led experience, ultimately closing the gap between in-store and digital customization channels for the user.
